Second World War - Barnsley War Memorials
Researched by MAC

Transcribed and photographed by BarnsleyHistorian

This memorial has been researched by Heritage Silkstone.  A dedicated Silkstone Remembers website has been set up to remember the men from Silkstone who fell in all wars.

This memorial used to stand in the corner of the churchyard, but was moved across the road into a separate area due to disturbance by traffic vibrations.

Silkstone Parish Council are responsible for the Memorial. A grant from the War Memorials Trust in 2017 enabled refurbishment works to be undertaken. Additionally, a missing serviceman, Frank Bramall (Brother of Horace Bramall) who had erroneously been missed off the Memorial was added. Contact the Clerk at Silkstone Parish Council for more imnformation.
